What is survey methodology?
Surveys are used in an increasingly wide range of disciplines and are a vital tool for social sciences and evidence-based policy. With constant developments of technologies relevant to data collection and extraction, methodologies around data collection face new challenges all the time, and bright, talented individuals are needed to develop and test new methods. Survey methodology is a dynamic academic field that elevates data collection to science.

Careers in survey methodology are in a wide range of industries: federal and local government agencies, policy think tanks, public opinion firms, tech companies and media companies. Hence, job titles go far beyond survey methodologist, such as statistician, survey scientist, and data scientist, to name a few.

What is this presentation about?
This presentation will provide an overview about survey methodology and its relevance and importance in this era of technology. It will introduce research areas within survey methodology, career trajectories and options, and how you obtain graduate training in survey methodology including Program in Survey Methodology at University of Michigan.
